You may have seen press reports about stocks of influenza vaccine being limited. It will now only be available to patients who are funded to receive it; pregnant women, those over 65 and others made vulnerable by their serious health conditions.
If you have missed out on getting the vaccine you may find the advice below on managing symptoms helpful.
– mild symptoms: fever, runny nose, headache.
– ‘the flu’ – Moderate to severe illness, high fever, shivering, cough, muscle aches.
– Really unwell, fever, shivering, stiff neck, vomiting, sensitive to bright lights, rash, getting worse quickly.
If meningitis is suspected check on the sick person frequently (at least every hour). A sick person should not remain on their own.
