Introducing Heidi – Our New AI Notetaking Assistant
At Dunedin North Medical Centre, we’re always looking for ways to improve your experience and make your care as seamless as possible. To support this, we’re introducing Heidi—an innovative AI assistant that helps us capture and manage medical information more efficiently.
Not all our clinicians are using Heidi yet, but if your doctor or nurse does choose to use it during your consultation, they will always ask for your permission first.
What is Heidi?
Heidi is an advanced note-taking tool that assists our healthcare professionals by documenting key details of your consultation.
It runs quietly in the background, recording essential information such as your symptoms, medical history, and your doctor’s recommendations. Your information will be securely sent out for transcription and then returned to become part of your consultation record. Servers for this process are currently in Sydney.
The data sent is not stored anywhere outside our system, and your name is never included in what is processed.
Your health information is kept private and secure.
By automating note-taking, Heidi allows us to maintain accurate, detailed medical records—without interrupting your visit.
What Heidi doesn’t do
Doesn’t diagnose or treat: Heidi doesn’t make medical decisions. Your doctor is always the one providing your care.
Doesn’t replace your doctor: Heidi is just a note-taking tool to support your consultation, not a substitute for medical advice or expertise.
Doesn’t share your information: Heidi is used only within your consultation and doesn’t access your medical record. It doesn’t share data with outside parties.

Your Privacy and Consent
Your privacy is very important to us. If you prefer not to use Heidi during your appointment, just let your doctor know. We’ll gladly use traditional notetaking methods instead.
