Cervical Screening is Changing – Simple HPV Self-Swab For Most
September 7, 2023
From 12 September 2023, the primary test for cervical screening will change to a human papillomavirus (HPV) test, with the option of self testing.
The screening test is now a quick and simple vaginal HPV self-swab, which means that you can do the swab yourself at the appointment, rather than having a smear done with a speculum. (Please note that some people will still require a smear depending on their previous results).
Please ring for an appointment, or to discuss any questions you may have. Many people are funded, including Maori, Pacific and Community Services Card holders.
