Anar was born in Dunedin and considers it the best place in the world to bring up her family. Before deciding to be a doctor she worked variously as a genomic research scientist, science team leader, health care assistant and volunteer ambulance officer.
After completing her medical degree, Anar was a doctor at Dunedin Hospital for two years before moving into General Practice specialty training. Anar chose General Practice so she could support patients and their whānau across the lifespan.
Anar can’t quite remember what spare time is, but does enjoy gardening, reading books, and being educated about vehicles and space by the young enthusiasts in her family.
