Dr Waldir Rodrigues de Souza Jr is a Otago Medical School graduate originally from Brazil, who moved to New Zealand in 2011 and spent his first four years in Southland before settling in Dunedin.
He worked at Dunedin Hospital in a range of medical and surgical rotations and later as an ophthalmology registrar before starting GP specialty training in 2025, where he enjoys the variety of people and problems the work brings.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and being in the outdoors.
